Disciplining Dishonest Employees: Protecting the Public Fisc and Preserving a Public Employer's Image

Abstract

Employers must appropriately investigate and document dishonest misconduct and its impact on the public service in order to ensure success against administrative and judicial challenge. This article serves as a discussion of issues that should be considered by public employers when disciplining dishonest employees and an overview of case law arising from such discipline.
